The Music of Crystals

And, he, his own transparency involved with that of the dream, contained in the dream and containing the dream, he lifted himself in the enormous effort required of him and with a final piercing through of the dream’s border, with a final shattering of every sort of image and every sort of revelation, with a last shattering of memory, the dream grew beyond itself, he growing with it […] and it became the law which caused the crystal to grow, the law of music, stated in the crystal, stated through music, but over and above that, expressing the music of the crystal.

~ Hermann Broch, The Death of Virgil, 1945

What the spiritual eye sees inwardly in the world of thought and mind, it sees outwardly in the world of crystals.

In Twenty Ten.

IN Twenty Ten, I realized a thing or two:
Perhaps in reality, dreams, meditations, thoughts, or memories.

1)"You're ALIVE..," he said.
2)Experiences of "The Love Supreme."
3)To take refuge in anything besides mental clarity is useless
4)Thoughts have a fleeting existence and their life span may be as
short or as long as the life of a parent star
5)Friends are Family and Family is Blood. I could not imagine life without either.
6)Growing with change is acceptable, in fact, there seems no other way.
7)Resistance feels unnatural yet at times questionable whether it's a form of protection
8)THERE IS NO WAGON
9)Sensitivity to other's emotions and energies consume cells in my body
10)When I make mistakes, I really do feel, question, and try to resolve with sincere effort.
11)I try to meditate when I can and think of nothing or focus on a dharna
12)Alice Coltrane is completely radical and experienced a rebirth with her music
once again this year after not listening to it for many moons
13)Cosmic matter, Esoteric thoughts, Astronomy, and Metaphysical theories interest me and I think they always have
14)I enjoy metaphysics and yoga and things of that nature but am not a fan of the Americanized new age culture nor scenes
15)I have encountered a number of shamans in my life and most have lived in the smoky mountains of the Mexican South
16)Through their teachings, I learned ....
17)Wandering and Traveling in the past felt as one of the highest forms of connection to the Self

(Is that why they call is soul searching?)

18)Humility is still # 1
19)I always had a bizarre fantasy to own an old ice cream truck one day and yes sometimes I am this random
20)The films of Oskar Fischinger are totally psychedelic for the 1930's

10)Alejandro Jodorowsky's spiritual journey, I find, pretty damn fascinating.
9)I cultivated an awareness to my mega-sensitivity to environments and spaces
8)Record Players and Vinyl is where IT has always been AT. Retrograde, if need be.
7)Riding in the back of a motorcycle through the West Texas Desert is romantic
6)My neighbor sits on his front porch, drinks whiskey, and plays his drumsticks on his table out front. He is seventy and always has a smile on his face (OBSERVATION)
5)Willing to make strong effort to reconnect with certain people with whom I don't speak to on a regular basis
4)Nature is Boss and without that in my close periphery, I freak out.
3)I've learned more about Leonard Cohen, the Stones, & Velvet Underground than ever before.
2)I have always been someone of a musical junkie which that is why the statement above surprises me - regardless, sort of an encyclopedia to many styles of music so if you have a question, just ask. I may have an answer for you.
1)This heart contains honey and its no joke .. might question circumstances but could also fall in love with a tree
0)Practicing compassion with self and others is written on the wall

-20)Decided to hit the books after all this time... pursuing the arts & new languages
-19)To be hard on one's self is pointless, just accept and move forward
-18)Substantial & Real Love is where my mind's at anything less, I don't care for.
-17)Open heart, open mind
-16)Yoga is a sacred practice and without it I feel something is righteously missing
-15)Art & Music move me like no other
-14)The world of olfactory memory is of high interest and alchemical experimentation begins, now.
-13)a collective of creatives (power of 10) can be potentially more powerful than the power of 1
-12)accepted personal life choices and life styles but realized I want to create a different relationship with the GREEN
-11)financially living on the edge can seem bohemian for a while, but not forever - there is no reason why you cannot have both
-10)Reconstruction of a dream: curating site specific installations to recapture a particular past - an ephemeral quality
-9)Inspired by Underground movements
-8)Practicing historical research and urban theories

Getting closer.... and closer.

-7)Riding a bicycle is not only sexy - it's better for YOU.
-6)The wild west is always calling and enchanting
-5)I realized I actually like scallops and had no idea- this year.
-4)IN Twenty-Ten, I experienced the closest encounter with the concept of Death and the afterlife through the eyes and heart of a precious young four year old girl and losing a close one whom you love.
-3)The act of letting go took months of practice and comes and goes
as most things do in cycles
-2)I want to reconnect and learn more about my middle-eastern roots
-1)Vetiver is one of my favorite scents.Who knew.
-0) In the past, climbed mountains and camped more often. I realized in twenty-ten, this is something I will do again

with more frequency.

-10)I realized the space between the lines is sometimes more important
-9)An obsession with the universe of all things, visual.
-8)Never knew how insanely beautiful MACROVIEWS are - especially of icebergs or massive, chaotic cities
-7)Sometimes, I just really want to be quiet and still.
-6)I once lived in an attic room in Amsterdam. All I could see from the window was rain - I realized I did not want that.
-5)Roberto BolaƱo became a preferred writer aside from Jose Luis Borges.
-4)Living minimal has become a part of my bones but open to change
-3)May not possibly live without SALT
-2)I realized I want to plan a short surfing trip next year with friends
-1)When I heard the wind whispering, I felt the most freedom.
-0)"YOU ARE EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEED TO BE" I remembered hearing that once or twice.

The rest is beneath the asphalt or lays ahead ...

The intention is definitely not to preach, contain intellectual b.s. or say too much- but to share these free-form thoughts of the day.

PUBLIC SCHOOL

RIP, Hotel Vegas, El Rival, & Texas Bar

About US:

a rotating cluster of creatives including freelance curators, researchers, editors, photographers, visual and performance artists, filmmakers, designers, and architects who collaborate on temporary projects in varied locales. We envision the collective as a catalyst: working with video, performance, text, sound, and image, we aim to bridge diverse cultures and communities through impermanent, site-specific installations in a drifting gallery model. Our projects will mobilize and put into practice ideas drawn from contemporary and experimental art, philosophy, historical research and analysis, urban theory, underground punk, and community outreach.

Site coming soon!

Alexander Technique.

The Alexander Technique has been around for well over 100 years. It helps us become aware of our psycho-physical habits or movement and stillness. The conscious awareness that awakens in us through practice of Alexander Technique reveals the physical, mental and emotional conditioning that is both unconscious and habitual and thereby restricts our ability to fully experience our lives as integrated, joyful, loving and peaceful human beings.

The Alexander Technique helps develop poise by organizing the body by means of the primary control. This is a very specific and subtle relationship between the head, neck and back.

( This is the workshop I did on Thursday - Although I don't sit very much, I find the diagram questioning EVOLUTION pretty funny and completely true! )
